Gifted Program - S.A.G.E.
At Bishop Allen Academy, the gifted program is called S.A.G.E. (Service, Awareness, Giftedness, Experience). It engages students in their learning by actively providing vast opportunities to help them develop strong self-advocacy, creative thinking, critical thinking and leadership skills. The numerous enrichment activities available through the program are structured to meet the needs of gifted learners in the following areas:
Service To find real problems and solutions in the school and community
Awareness To develop awareness, understanding and acceptance of oneself and others
Giftedness To nurture intellectual, social and emotional gifts
Experience To work in stimulating and supportive environments
S.A.G.E. – The Gifted Program at Bishop Allen
The Gifted Program S.A.G.E. is a co-curricular program of events and activities created primarily for IPRC'd gifted students.
Each month, students in the SAGE Program are called to a group meeting where they learn about exciting upcoming events and are invited to participate. Guest speakers are often invited to these meetings to present students with new ideas and opportunities. Student speakers are also on hand to speak about their involvement in activities and to encourage the participation of their peers. Students are provided with a menu of available activities and experiences that run almost every day. From these, students select activities that meet their individual needs. Students are also invited to a one-on-one meeting with the gifted facilitator to establish their interests and goals. They are encouraged to make appointments at any time to work on entrance applications for programs with limited enrolment,* to prepare scholarship applications,* to develop new initiatives* and to discuss any other interests or concerns.
