Academics Physical and Health
Education Department
Through the many courses offered by the Physical and Health
Education department students will be exposed to the importance
of physical fitness, leadership and the benefits of participation
in sports throughout their lives. Our health curriculum explores
issues such as healthy eating, human sexuality, substance
use and abuse, informed decision-making, conflict resolution,
human reproduction, mental health, personal safety, goal setting,
and the development of personal and social skills as well
as many others. While our physical education program emphasizes
the traditional sports such as volleyball, basketball and
tennis, we are not limited to the gym and the playing field.
Students are exposed to a variety of sporting activities in
a variety of sporting venues. They may find themselves rock
climbing, ice skating, boxing, curling, golfing or even participating
in a "spin" class. We want students to learn the benefits
of life long participation in sports and healthy activities.
We have an exceptionally vibrant program with an excellent
teaching staff.
Other Activities offered to our
students include the following:
Ski/Snowboard departmental excursions, Terry Fox Run, Hoops
For Heart, Inside Ride, Fitness Fridays, and a vibrant Intramural
Program.
