Academics – Music Department
The Bishop Allen Academy Music Department currently offers a four year program in band, strings, and vocal music. With a strong emphasis on performance, music students are encouraged to participate in numerous concerts, workshops and festivals throughout North America. Our music students have received numerous awards for their participation in these events. Many students have gone on to study music in post secondary settings. We can proudly boast of Bishop Allen Alumni as vital members of the Toronto music scene, from singing on opera stages to performing in intimate jazz clubs.
Students don't have to become professional musicians to benefit from the study of music. Numerous studies show that the study of music has many advantages which include:
- increased IQ level
- improved concentration
- better self discipline
- better self confidence
